Supporting Young People into Social Care event

Supporting Young People into Social Care event

The Care Academy are pleased to invite you to attend an upcoming event delivered in partnership with New College Durham.  The Supporting Young People into Social Care event is taking place on Tuesday 30 June 2026 at New College Durham from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

This event aims to support employers to create opportunities for young people interested in social care.  During the event you will:

  • Understand the future needs of the social care workforce across County Durham
  • Find out about Durham County Councils local workforce priorities
  • Understand the different types of student placements available (T Levels, apprenticeships, L2/L3 programmes)
  • Gain practical insight from providers and students about the value placements bring
  • Take part in workshops addressing common concerns, myth‑busting, and exploring what good placements look like
  • Tour New College Durham facilities and meet colleagues who can support your organisation

Your involvement as an employer is vital in helping young people understand the reality of working in social care and the positive impact they can make. Attendance will provide an opportunity to contribute to conversations about workforce recruitment, share good practice, and support future pipeline development.

Full event details and booking information can be found below:

Places are limited and booking is required via the Care Academy events portal.

We strongly encourage social care employers, managers, and those involved in recruitment or workforce development to attend.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the adult social care workforce. We hope you can join us for this important event.
