About County Durham Care Academy
The role of County Durham Care Academy is to support the recruitment and retention of people in the social care workforce in County Durham. Whether you are considering a career in social care or are an established professional within the sector, we can offer training and qualifications which can support your aspirations and progression.
We do this by supporting the recruitment of new people into the social care sector, examples include attracting young people and promoting social care as a career of choice with lots of opportunities to grow and develop. People who are looking for a change of career, people returning to work after a break or long-term unemployment or active retirees.
Care Academy offers training and development opportunities for people starting out in the care sector with introductory course in ‘Skills for working in Adult Social Care’ right through to specialist roles and senior leadership.
Durham County Council work with over 300 commissioned providers in adult social care in County Durham. These providers cover a range of services from care provided in people’s own homes to day care, to residential and nursing home providers.
There are various types of care to support individuals. Understanding about care and the different services available is useful for those wanting to work in care as well as those receiving care and their unpaid carers.
