About the Role

We are looking for Health Care Assistants who are passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives. Working in the Consett area, you will provide compassionate support to service users in their own homes, enabling them to live independently, safely, and happily.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Encouraging service users to participate in daily activities and decisions about their care.

  • Supporting personal care routines such as bathing, dressing, continence care, and grooming.

  • Preparing meals and snacks that meet nutritional needs and preferences.

  • Assisting with domestic tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.

  • Accompanying service users to appointments and helping them access their local community.

  • Promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing at all times.

Shift Patterns

We believe in supporting a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working patterns to fit around your personal commitments. Shifts are available across:

  • Morning and lunchtime shifts (typically between 7:00am – 3:00pm)

  • Tea-time and evening shifts (typically between 3:00pm – 10:00pm)

  • Full day shifts with appropriate breaks

  • Flexible scheduling across weekdays and alternate weekends

Whether you are looking for part-time hours, set days, or a consistent full-time rota, we will work with you to find a pattern that suits.

Essential Requirements:

  • Clear Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Two satisfactory references.

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Ability to travel between service users’ homes (walking, cycling, or access to personal vehicle if necessary).

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous experience in domiciliary care, health care, or support work.

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).

  • Basic skills in preparing meals and undertaking light household tasks.

  • Local knowledge of the Consett area and surrounding villages.
