We are committed therefore to the development and training of each member of staff thereby equipping our staff with the necessary skills to reach their full potential.

In practice we will support our staff by ensuring that their rights and wellbeing are protected and thereby encouraging their motivation by being caring open and honest. Endeavouring to create an open culture in the service where staff feel confident and supported to raise any concerns they have without any fear of recrimination.

Providing a safe working environment where risk of violence, harassment and bullying are assessed and minimised. Having clear procedures in place that are implemented when staff are subjected to violence, harassment or bullying by other staff or people who use services. Ensuring the risks to staff from the premises, equipment, or work that they do are assessed, and the preventative and protective measures required as a result are implemented and followed. This includes staff understanding and following any health surveillance measures where they apply.

Supporting staff to follow their professional codes of conduct, and not requiring staff to do anything that would mean they would fail to follow that code.
Ensuring that staff are aware that they will receive support if they develop a health problem related to their work. Putting suitable plans in place for ongoing support where staff need reasonable adjustments in order to be able to carry out their role.

Supporting staff to obtain expert advice in relation to qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience, who can contact the manager who will determine the best source for this information. Ensuring that staff can raise items where they require support during supervision sessions, and the type and level of support required is agreed with the supervisor.

We recognise the valuable contribution our staff make to the development of the service and the staff team are encouraged to give their suggestions for improvement or discuss their ideas or new innovations with the manager. We also have a suggestion box located in the staff room. We will support staff through supervision and appraisal by providing them with feedback on their performance in a constructive, progressive and motivating way.

Person Specification:

Key Responsibilities:  
  1. Assist clients who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toilet.
 
  1. Help clients with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the care and use of aids and personal equipment.
 
  1. Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of clients through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreation.
 
  1. Make and change beds; tidy rooms and do light cleaning.
 
  1. Cook meals, serve meals; assist clients at meal times if required; wash up utensils.
 
  1. Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors.
 
  1. Read and write reports in care plans.
 
  1. Take part in staff and client meetings and also in training activities as required.
 
  1. Assist a senior member of staff who has been assessed as competent with medication administration.

Essential qualifications:

GCSE or Equivalent in Mathematics and English Satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance

Desired qualifications:

NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
