CDCS Extra Care The Orchards

County Durham Care and Support (CDC&S) is Durham County Council’s in-house social care provider. We offer a range of specialist care and support services to help meet people’s individual care needs to improve their quality of life, promote choices and independence and to safeguard those who may be at risk.
Extra Care is part of the County Durham Care & Support family and is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide regulated care and support to individuals aged 55 and over and offers a Domiciliary Service within the building.
Extra Care is rated as Good by the Care Quality Commission. The key aim of the service is to promote people’s independence and enable the individual to live in their own self-contained flat within the Extra Care development for as long as possible while ensuring they have access to support as needed. We work in partnership with two housing providers Anchor Housing and Accent Care who are responsible for the buildings and any repairs.
The service is 24/7 and the care and support provided to individuals is delivered by a highly trained, motivated, committed and compassionate staff team. Care and support needs are tailored to the individual to promote autonomy, encourage independence and to support their health and wellbeing. Support tasks are varied and can include personal care; washing, dressing, mobility support, nutrition and dietary needs, administering medication and ensuring that their medical, physical and emotional needs are met. There are opportunities for individuals to participant in a range of social and leisure activities to promote their health and wellbeing.
Our staff follow Durham County Council’s set of values and behaviours. Our OPEN values: Outcome focused, People focused, Empowering and innovative are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we do the right things in the right way and our behaviours have been designed to support and embed these values.
